We are looking forward to growing our volunteer-based Art Docent program this year, utilizing the Art Smart curriculum provided by LWSD. Art Smart offers detailed lesson plans that introduce students to various principles and elements of art including lines, shape, and value. Students will have the opportunity to work with pastels, paint, clay, and even everyday objects.  We hope that we will have enough volunteers for each class to have an art lesson each month, culminating in an art show at the end of the year to celebrate every student's artwork. 

If you are passionate about art and enriching the visual arts experience for our students, we would love to hear from you! We are looking for parents or community members for the following roles:

• lead art docent coordinator- oversee the art supply closet, coordinate lessons with classroom art docents, lead art lessons if desired  
• classroom art docents- lead or support art lessons in the classroom approximately 1x/month.

No prior art experience is needed, just a love for the arts and the desire to share that with students! Please get in touch at education@mybenfranklinpta.org
